Diamonds are a girl's best friend, or in the case of Kristi Kohut it's cosmic crystals (she's drawn to Swarovski crystals and iridescent acrylic). The Chicago based artist, who quit her job in advertising ten years ago to pursue the art world, has been led to the Hamptons for her pop up store in association with One Kings Lane.
Her artwork takes inspiration from the color and pattern found in nature and she simulates this by playing with mediums and materials. Take her 'Symphonic Atlas' series, for example, which is made up of layers of iridescent acrylic, cut glass, glass glitter and Swarovski crystals; Her 'Imagine' series is equally as intricate as it merges hundreds of hand-cut flowers created from illustrations, photography, magazine clippings with glass glitter and shimmery iridescent acrylic.
